Default Opening cutscene and tutorial...

Does anyone know if there will be an opening cutscene, just to introduce? Here's what I think it should be like:

A gigantic capital ship moves into a system of at least 100 space stations.
"Incoming vessel: State your identification and clearence codes" blares over the speakers, clearly a female entity, coming from a radio. The ship open fires on the nearest station, explosions consuming it. The ship moves onto to other stations, destroying 1 by 1, dramatically , of course, with many explosions, laser fire, gigantic space battle stuff. As this is pursuing, many more ships move into the battlefield. Many different random barks(barked orders) come over the speakers, both male and female voices, again sounding like coming from a radio in a station. Alarms can be heard in the background. The camera whirls and zooms into one station, where an escape pod jettisons and slams into the original capital ship, considerably the biggest. In the hanger, the PC climbs out of the mangled escape pod that is perched diagonally into the steel with scorches round it, while being shot at, and rushes to the first starfighter in sight, which is chosen in character creation by choosing a generic starting ship(just an idea of mine, not really a feature).
(continued in next post...) Please do not post yet!!!

After the PC reaches the starfighter(you don't control them yet, it is still an animation), it rises up. The troops on the ground are still in open fire, and men are moving onto the catwalk above the airlock door leading to the darkness of space. You recognize them as Jadd Baran. Your character grins, and rams one edge of the catwalk. Sme troops fall to their death, while a few grab on to the bars and edges. Lasers leap out at the airlock, and the center glows and melts while the rest is yanked away as numerous pieces of equipment and some bodies and living troops are swept out. Two troops are holding onto seperate edges and you scrape one on the way out. The other is yanked out by the vacuum after you leave. A super-intelligent AI contacts you over the ships comm system, and it talks you through general concepts of the game. It sounds half male, half female, ad almost all machnie, with static and random changes between personalitys and male and fem ale voices, showing malfunction due to being stretched so far in the battle, or due to faulty futuristic designs. After you are taught the controls you are guided to the battle and instructed to destroy certain ships. Then your are told to pair up with some NPC ships to destroy a freighter. After that is over, you are struck in the side of the ship by a laser(of course) and spin out of control, but luckily through an opening airlock ito a shuttle bay in a space station. The scene blacks out and you are awakened by the same AI. You walk to an elevator(again, you aren't controlling your character, its a cutscene), then out to a brand new ship(which you bought while uncouncious...??). You then fly out and begin the game... What do you think 'bout it?

Okay, so a cheesy ending... any suggestions?

I am sure that there will be an intro cutscene based on the game story. But yours sounds very nice, too!

I've got to say, the hints that are sneaking out about the game start are getting me quite excited about BP. It's something most MMOs don't handle well. Generally speaking, you do a tutorial (often with an overpowered character), then are dropped in some town somewhere with minimal direction, no skills and a bunch of "collect 10 rats tails" quests. The 'cron was even worse than that originally, with not even any quests to give you direction. The other action MMO of note, Planetside dropped you in a base with some really, really dull training exercises in the VR room then left you to work the rest out yourself. Thankfully, shooting people a different colour to you comes naturally to most gamers.

Yet it looks like BP is going to kick off with a guns-blazing, dramatic series of scripted encounters. If we're lucky this will involve some Valve-style learn-as-you-play rather than a heavy-handed tutorial. Sure, it may get a bit tedious doing this for alts - but an MMO that could grab you immediatley, rather than 2-10 hours in - now that would be something special.

That said, I'd rather see minimal and short cinematics. Impressive sequences while you remain in control of your character is fun. Sitting and watching videos is tedious and will get a large number of players reaching for their escape keys.

Never much cared for the opening cutscenes. Usually after viewing it once or twice I go into the game files and rename the cutscene so the game no longer plays it *Cough* WAR *Cough*.

So have the intro cutscene at the beginning of character creation. Then you probably won't see it more than twice.

As long as there is an option to skip it with a button press. I like cinematics once in a while.

EVE does the same, only shows it once until game is reinstalled or updated to expansion or something. Or until you create another character me thinks.
