Well they mention micropayments if it's a F2P model. If that's the case then so be it. I'm just hoping that it'll be a P2P. I know its sounds weird, but I just feel like the P2P are a little higher quality when it comes to the players. Also, I don't think I'd mind if a clan was limited at the start. Thing of it this way, if you currently have more members then are currently able to be included in your clan, then you have minions at your disposal who cannot be immediatly tied to you. In other words, they can still help you gather resources by defending resource nodes even if they're not in your clan.

I wonder what's going to happen to clan members and / or numbers, if at some time in the future they decide to make clan bases destructible. I think at that time, living quarters should work more like achievements that once obtained cannot get lost.
