It’s time for the next issue of the Black Prophecy Community Bulletin.
The last two weeks have been quite busy again. While the dev team is making good progress with the game, our management is continuing the negotiations with several publishers who are very interested in a cooperation with us. We still cannot state any names yet but we are confident to be able to provide more information in the next weeks. In addition, some of our team members faced the games press in several interviews giving a little more insight into Black Prophecy. We are also very delighted to see the community growing and flourishing. None of us has expected to see so many people from all over the world in our forums discussing Black Prophecy and having a good time together. This makes us confident that we are on the right way to make Black Prophecy a great game for every one of you. In the following you will find the news summary, the community spotlight and a brief look at what you can expect in the next weeks. Enjoy the read! NEWS SUMMARY As already mentioned, some of our team members have answered several questions in interviews with the games press. Our development director, Simon Bachmann, talked with James Egan from Massively.com about the available viewing perspectives, the character advancement and how you will be able to control your ship in Black Prophecy. In another interview, Simon was talking with the German games portal Buffed about how Black Prophecy sets itself apart from comparable games, our motivation to make Sci-Fi online games and Michael Marrak's involvement in Black Prophecy. Pilot “Renfield” was so kind to provide an English translation for the English community in the interview thread. In the interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun, we talked with Jim Rossignol about the overall game experience, large scaled PvP battles and the modular ship system. The Italian games portal Gamesource wanted to know more about the graphics engine used in Black Prophecy, the epic soundtrack and the character progression and so Kirk Lenke took some time to answer their questions. COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT As always, we give you a short overview about the communities “Hot Topics”. Pilot Ulli has started a thread in which he is talking about the creation of forum signatures. This might be a good source for other pilots who are interested in creating their own forum signature. The discussion, started by Pilot rXp, about what should happen if your ship gets destroyed and if there should be any death penalties, is still going strong and awaits your participation. Pilot “Judge” is interested in hearing your opinion about which controlling peripherals you prefer in order to steer your ship. Pilot “Blipblipblur” would like to know which faction you will choose to join for the fight for honour and glory. Pilot “Sylvercode” is a big fan of Sci-Fi tv shows and asks the community about their favourite shows. Pilot “SoonTM” had a very close look at the gameplay trailer and found some interesting information he wants to discuss with you. The pilots from Prophecy Network have started the “Dev Watch”, a regular column in which they summarise several interesting information about Black Prophecy. INTO THE FUTURE We still have several interviews in the pipeline that will be published in the next weeks, giving you even more information about Black Prophecy. In a radio interview with the German radio station “Bayern 4”, Pierre Langer from Dynamedion will be talking about music in games and will tell his experiences with the creation of Black Prophecy’s soundtrack. The show will air on Thursday, 07.05.2009 from 09:00 PM to 10:00 PM CEST (GMT+2) on “Bayern 4 Klassik”. There will be a podcast of this show for those who have missed it. We will try to find some German community members who are willing to make a English transcript of the show for our English speaking community. To give you some insight into the daily life of our development team, we plan to release some kind of dev diary in the near future, in which selected Devs will talk about themselves and what their responsibilities are in the development of Black Prophecy. The form in which these diaries will be published has not been finally decided yet but we will keep you posted. That’s it for now. Thanks for reading and see you in the next issue of the Stellarvox Community Bulletin!
