Continuing his developer diary series, Technical Director Cyrus Preuss now talks about the interaction with the physics engine. Amongst other things, he explains the difficulties of having a good balance between realism and fun and how the player ship is moved around the game world with regards to physics aspects.

Check out part three of the Black Prophecy Physics Developer Diary!

Thanks for the info!

I am curious about the sectors, or more specifically if there has been any talk about the relative size of the sectors. It sounds like the sectors would each be separate instances within the game. Would a single sector, for example, be able to represent a solar system? Or something smaller like orbiting a planet?

Love when advanced physics are applied to games. Half life 2 was like a dream, and I look forward to flying in Black Prophecy space.

Thanks, Im loving the dev diaries

At the conclusion do you think we will get some pretty pictures of these different types of collisions and some of the maneuvers players can use to reduce damage taken in the collisions? Of course it cant be simplified into just getting as much velocity in the direction away from the object, but I mean specifics like will the cockpit of your ship sustain the most damage and if so would it be better to skid the surface of the object with your tail end or a side?

EDIT: Oops, seems im too late... Still, thanks for the good read.
