View Full Version : Windows 7
Alright, so I finally did it, I ordered a new computer.
Now, I have 2 Windows 7 Professional 64bit keys (they are even legally acquired) but I can't decide which one to use... One is in swedish (I'm swedish) and the other is in english... If any swedish win7 users are out there, what is your advice?

I think it depends on the Windows version you have installed. The English key likely won't work with the Swedish version and vice versa.
Personally, I'd pick (and have already done so) the English version. If you run into troubles or want to configure something outside the ordinary, the first posting after your question is a counterquestion about what you need it for in the first place. At least in a lot of German online communities. Not so with English speaking communities, which tend to be a bit more open. And with MS' sometimes strange translations of names, finding the right spot to tweak settings can be a bit difficult.
Windows 7 can be in whatever language you want, just download the package from MSUpdate and change the language if it's not already installed.
So it doesn't matter.

Language Packs, of course. I stand corrected.
theyre right, use the english key version of course and then just downlaod the language pack from MS website...or maybe its probably already installed and all you have to do now is configure the settings in the regional language options...

Ah, ok, thanks.
I get free microsoft stuff, doing the Microsoft IT Academy stuff... It feels like it's meant for kids... So I have access to both english and swedish installs.

BP will not run on W7 oO
BP will not run on W7 oO
? :wtf:
Of course it will. It just won't use DirectX 10. WIn7 can use both DirectX 9 and 10. So it' downwards compensible.

no ... but do you know a game that runs on XP but not on win7?
I have win7 and I can play every game I played with XP ... so I don't think that BP will have problems.

It's safe to assume all Windows games currently in the making will run on Win7. Going 64bit, too, isn't something to be afraid of anymore. It removes the 4GB max RAM barrier, it removes the 2GB RAM per app barrier, the only thing not to like about 64bit Windows may be the requirement for signed drivers. This may be a problem if you use some uncommon piece of software that requires a signed driver, but there are ways around that, too.
